ZFS is a fancy filesystem from Sun which betters RAID and also does snapshotting and replication. It turned out to be a very useful solution to our backup problems. I'll be giving you a very quick tour.
UPDATED; Please see attached files for the commands run during this presentation. The OS was SunOS 5.11 snv_111b i86pc i386 Solaris installed from osol-0906-x86.iso available at http://hub.opensolaris.org/bin/view/Main/downloads
JuliusRobertsI've been a Sys Admin for around ten years, but I've little *NIX exposure until recently.
I currently work at The Wilderness Society in Hobart, Tasmania. I am certainly not a UNIX zealot :) but I did find Solaris and ZFS to be a very useful platform to solve our backup problems. I enjoy gardening, spending time with my family, PC games and messing around with linux :)
